Having someone you care about who misuses substances can be an anxious and stressful time. It is very important for family members and friends to get support and look after their own wellbeing  – you are not alone and we are here to help. 

Realising that your family member or friend has got into substance misuse can make you feel scared, powerless, sad, guilty, lonely, hurt, grieved, angry.

It can be a very anxious and stressful time, but you don’t need to suffer in silence – you are not alone!

There are ways to help – from educating yourself about the substance misuse, to learning different ways to support your child, partner or friend and taking care of your own health – we are here to help!

The Northstar Family Support Project is a long-established and well-trusted community based service, working with families in the Limerick region affected by substance misuse.

Our respectful, compassionate and non-judgemental skills have helped mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends affected by someone else’s addiction.

Our work is dedicated to offer a suite of tailored interventions aimed to empower family and friends, and provide hope of a brighter future.
